Chaz Bundick + Geoff McFetridge

For the March issue of The California Sunday Magazine, Chaz Bundick (the multitalented songwriter and front man of Toro y Moi) and celebrated artist and designer Geoff McFetridge got to know one another in a thoughtful and fascinating installment of The Thread. Now, on the eve of the release of Toro y Moi’s eagerly anticipated new album, What For? (April 6 via Carpark Records), we are happy to present part 2 of their exchange, in which Geoff asks Chaz how he approaches his visual art versus his music, where he finds inspiration for both, and what’s the deal with “jamming”?

"I imagine that if a computer were more like a piano, graphic design would be much more interesting."

-Geoff

“I think something a lot of music is missing nowadays is risk.”

-Chaz

"Once I create something and it's in the physical world, I feel a little less connected to it…"

-Chaz
